An experimental study was recently conducted to compare current fully preloaded intraocular lens (IOL) injection systems on the market. 

The study explored wound architecture after IOL implantation and the overall ease and speed of use of the different IOL systems.

The new RayOne system was found to be best performing in 3 of the 4 areas covered within the study.

Rayner will mark an important milestone next month: the 10-year anniversary of US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of C-flex 570C monofocal Intraocular Lens (IOL) for commercial use in the United States of America. 

March 02, 2017 – Worthing, United Kingdom. Rayner announced today that a selection of models in their Sulcoflex range of pseudophakic supplementary IOLs have received Chinese Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) approval and are to be launched in market in 2017.

Rayner is the first manufacturer to make a supplementary IOL available to surgeons in China.

In 2016, 773 Rayner IOLs were used to restore the sight of some of Bangladesh’s poorest and most isolated people, according to the recent Annual IMPACT partner report. There were no complications found during post-operative follow up visits of patients with Rayner IOLs, it was also reported.

The new website also coincides with the upcoming SOI meeting in Rome, Italy (23-26 November), where Dr. Simonetta Morselli and Dr. Piero Ceruti will be performing live surgery using RayOne; the new, fully preloaded IOL injection system from Rayner.

The honour of presenting the 2016 Rayner Medal Lecture was awarded to Dr Warren Hill and as UKISCRS Secretary Satish Srinivasan explains, “UKISCRS was delighted to invite Dr. Warren Hill from Mesa, Arizona, USA to present the prestigious Rayner Medal Lecture at the 40th Annual congress of the UKISCRS in London on the 21st of October 2016.
Dr. Hill is a well-recognised name in the field of intraocular lens power calculations and has made a tremendous contribution in this field. He has been instrumental in developing the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery online calculator for calculating IOL power in eyes with prior refractive surgery and the development of the new and exciting Hill - RBF formula for IOL power calculation based on artificial intelligence.”

To mark the recent Annual National Customer Service Week Event, Rayner Employees were given the opportunity to shadow a member of the 9-strong international Customer Service team for an afternoon. This provided an ideal setting to foster internal feedback whilst also getting staff in non-customer-facing departments to think about their own role in a customer’s journey with Rayner.
