Rayflo - the new viscoelastic from Rayner

Posted on 27/01/2003

Rayner IOL Ltd is proud to announce the addition of Rayflo 1.6% Sodium Hyaluronate solution to our product range. Rayflo combines maximum intraocular protection with the ease-of-use that modern ophthalmic surgeons expect.

Rayflo has superb qualities and advantages observable, for example, at each stage of the modern cataract procedure.

At the outset of the procedureRayflow• There are no air bubbles while discharging the syringe.
• Excellent performance for lubricating the lens in the injector cartridge.

During Capsulorhexis
• Clear, unobscured visualisation of the rhexis.• Superb chamber maintenance
• Prevention of adhesion and synechiae-formation.

During Phacoemulsification
• Excellent endothelial cell protection.

During IOL capsular implantation
• Outstanding re-creation of the capsular space.

During Aspiration
• Easy and complete aspiration from the eye.

Combine all these properties with the presentation, in a convenient single-pack, of a glass syringe containing 1.0ml fill of Rayflo plus a 25G thin-walled cannula and it is clear to see that Rayflo has distinct advantages over other viscoelastics.

The Rayflo dosium hyaluraonate is derived from bacterial fermentation.
Thus its purity is guaranteed to be from a controlled source, free of potential contamination from animal pathogens such as viruses and prions. Each syringe is filled by a vacuum filling process which ensures that no air is trapped inside the syringe. This not only permits maximum product safety but also retards the natural oxidation processes, which would degrade sodium hyaluraonate if exposed to air. Once filled, the syringe is then ready to use. Before final packaging each syringe goes through 100% Visual Inspection: controlled to detect particles or filling errors.

With its unique properties, Rayflo maintains a deep anterior chamber and protects the corneal endothelium throughout surgery It is ideal for routine cataract surgery but can be used in every kind of ophthalmic procedure requiring a viscoelastic. It compliments, rather than competes with, our already highly-successful, specialised viscoelastic, Rayvisc (3% sodium hyaluraonate).

Rayflo has all the high standards of quality and finish that you would expect from a Rayner product. We are confident that you will find that Rayflo delivers all the performance characteristics that our surgeon-customers expect in surgery to restore sight.
