Key Opinion Leaders in Ophthalmology Contribute to Another Successful Rayner-Forum

Posted on 28/07/2015

Professor Herbert Reitsamer, Professor Fritz Hengerer, Professor Stephan Kaminski and Professor Hans Hoerauf were some of the surgeons who contributed to the recent 2015 Rayner-Forum in Berlin.

65 surgeons from Germany and Austria travelled to Berlin for a weekend of education, sharing ideas and best practice.

The Annual Rayner-Forum has been a calendar highlight for over a decade now – and the 2015 event was met with even greater anticipation and excitement as it was announced just a few days earlier that the company had acquired the Ophteis OVD range.

Rayner Germany Country Manager Dr Nina Link opened the Forum by explaining the acquisition and how surgeons would now have access to a full portfolio of OVDs ranging from dispersive to cohesive, and then delegates were exposed to a full clinical programme stretching beyond IOLs and cataracts, as presentations on retinal, glaucoma and corneal surgery were also included on the agenda.

A highlight of the event was the presentation from Professor Thieme (also Rayner-Forum moderator) who delivered his ‘phaco nightmares’ session (based on his personal experience) in a memorable and entertaining style.

One of the speakers from the Programme will also be on the panel for the upcoming Rayner Symposium at the 2015 ESCRS in Barcelona:

  • Professor Michael Amon (Vienna) (Rayner-Forum presentation: Duet Implantation – a new approach to multifocal vision)

Despite the distraction of the Berlin heatwave, the Rayner-Forum has been praised as highly informative and a great success, and some surgeons have even enquired about dates for the 2016 Rayner-Forum already!
