Rayner (headquartered in the UK) announced today that the clinical investigation of the C-flex® injectable intraocular lens (IOL) system has started. Donald J. Munro, CEO of LA-based RAYNER SURGICAL INC., said that the study was, “well and truly underway” at all US and European sites. Mr Munro explained that the multi-site study will open the way for Rayner to supply US surgeons with a new technology lens that is already approved and widely used in Europe, Middle East, Asia, South America and South Africa.

Ophthalmic surgeon Mr Charles Claoué, Consultant at Whipps Cross University Hospital, London, was honoured by the South African Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (SASCRS) at its 10th biennial congress in Sun City. Mr Claoué was awarded the prestigious Kritzinger Medal after delivering a spirited presentation on the treatment of Presbyopia.

In February 2003 Rachel Yin, Export Manager for Rayner, visited Bangladesh and handed over a further donation of 50 intraocular lenses to be used on the Jibon Tari floating hospital.
