The XXXI European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons in Amsterdam was attended by over 7,000 delegates.

The Congress was a big event for Rayner as the company launched its first preloaded IOL (C-flex®Advance Aspheric) and unveiled a striking new campaign for the T-flex® toric IOL. The booth was constantly busy throughout the Congress as delegates were enthusiastic to see demonstrations of the new Advance Preloaded, whilst some guests simply wanted to have their photo taken with the eye-catching image of the rotated eye.

For one night, the eve of the ESCRS congress, the stadium of the Spanish and European Champions Barcelona FC was home to the IOL world champions Rayner and the Rayner distributor companies.

Yes, it was a night to remember – a “match of two halves”. The first-half: the presentations and a guided museum tour, and the second-half: a buffet of typical Spanish tapas.

At the XXIII Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) in Lisbon, Portugal, Rayner hosted two very well attended Satellite Meetings.

On Friday 9th September 2005, at the aptly named meeting, “We have the Edge – introducing the Rayner Multifocal”, delegates were not only introduced to Rayner’s new multifocal intraocular lens (M-flex®) but were also presented with the results from some new clinical studies for the C-flex® and Superflex® intraocular lenses.

Following the success of “Update on Foldable Intraocular Lenses”, a one-day Symposium which was held last year in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, Rayner recently sponsored a second one-day Symposium, “Update on Foldable Intraocular Lenses 2002".

The meeting was a huge success, well attended by consultant and junior ophthalmologists coming mainly, but not exclusively, from the North of England.

Rayner Intraocular Lenses Ltd of Hove, East Sussex is to donate an entire year’s supply of intraocular lenses to the floating hospital Jibon Tari in Bangladesh, announced Rayner Managing Director Donald Munro, whilst on a visit to that country in early January. Five hundred of the highest quality lenses will be sent entirely free of charge in the year 2001.
